The
1896 O’Malley House B&B is a three-story Colonial
Revival/Victorian style home built in 1896 for original
owners Dominick and Katherine O’Malley. It was completely
restored in 2000. It is located in Mid-City near
Downtown, the
French Quarter and the Convention Center. Guests can walk a few
yards from the B&B's front steps to catch the new Canal Street
Streetcar, which offers easy access to most major New Orleans
attractions within fifteen
minutes.
Mid-City is a neighborhood that boasts great food, music and local
culture. Within a three-block radius, guests
can partake of
cuisines that range from Creole and Cajun French to other ethnic foods
such as Greek, Italian or Mexican. Nearby is Rock and Bowl, which is
great fun for music, dancing and
bowling! Within walking distance is the New Orleans Fairgrounds—
home of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. City Park, which
houses the world class New Orleans Museum of Art, is also just a short
walk from the house.
All
guest rooms are tastefully furnished by a local designer.
Many rooms have 12 foot ceilings and either marble or cypress-carved
mantels with beautifully refinished cypress doors and pine hardwood
floors. Bathrooms include granite countertops and many feature
jacuzzi tubs!
The
bedrooms have internet access, telephones with private
voicemail, cable
color televisions, new window treatments and much more! All rooms
are provided with a writing desk. A daybed or pop-up trundle is
available in most rooms.
The
1896 O’Malley House received a triple-diamond rating from AAA and the
2001
Golden Hammer Award from the Mayor’s Office for its restoration.
